"Six Liturgical Seasons"

“Joy Walking” was the theme, given to me by pastor Brenda Sawatzky-Paetkau, for meditation while designing and creating this work. The designs emerged from inspiring conversations with the pastor, and images of the church’s beautiful stained glass windows and interior. Seasonal side panels change, while the center painting remains throughout the year. The only seasonal piece that obscures the center is for Lent.

One year after the commission, I was invited to visit the church and participate in a Sunday morning service and second hour dedicated to praying through the liturgical seasons and discussing the project. What a special morning of music, stories from the congregation and a chance to experience a journey through the liturgical seasons together.
